Product Care

Wooden products are organic by nature and over time you can expect changes in colour. This is not a bad thing as cared for wood ages with much character. Our Birch Ply and Pine products are finished with two to three coats of water-based sealer that contains a UV inhibitor that retards bacterial and fungal growth. Our indoor hardwood products are finished with a Polywax sealer. Both types of sealer leave a classic velvet finish (neither gloss not matt)

Birch Ply is a beautiful, laminated wood. If cared for properly it will retain its natural colour and finished sheen. Our hardwood products include woods such as Mahogany, Cedar, Saligna, Blackwood and whatever else we may have in stock from time-to-time.

With regular care, your item will last for many years. We suggest caring for your product as follows:

  1. Avoid placing your wooden item in direct sunlight (even if indoors), as sunlight will cause fading over time.

  2. If your outdoor wooden product is exposed to direct rain or sunlight it will need to be cared for. No amount of sealer is going to last indefinitely. Depending on your item’s exposure, you will need to care for it by sanding it down and giving it a coat or two of sealant every year or two.

  3. For indoor or covered patio products, wipe down after any spills. Water left over time will cause stain marks on the finish.

  4. Clean your wooden products with a slightly damp cloth. With stubborn dirt use a damp cloth with mild soapy water and then immediately wipe off with plain water.
